#NotMeOC - Showing up and Making Waves!
ED Talk - Time with the Exec Dir of OCGO!
As Executive Director of the OC Gun Owner's PAC I'm supposed to stay apolitical, yet, come on!! Wow, what a week!! Virginia! Ohio! New Jersey! Seattle! And, in some ways, New York City. Outstanding week for conservative values. We can also account for all of the local municipalities, school boards, and city councils around the country that are getting recalled on a weekly basis! Simply amazing!! Nothing short of a tidal wave-a-comin.
For those who are united in their message, Constitutionalism will once again be mainstream. And at the forefront, PACs like ours will be leading the charge in endorsing candidates who are staunch in their beliefs and are unapologetic about their core values especially where the 2nd Amendment is concerned.
Some ask what our PAC is all about. Simple. We espouse 4 principles:
Second Amendment Advocacy
Gun Community Organizing
Fundraising
Work with the OC Gun Community to Accomplish 1, 2, and 3
The mid-terms are just around the corner. If you are compelled to get involved in political activism, I STRONGLY encourage you to seek out friends and come join our team. When it comes to vetting potential candidates, our teams are among of the best and some of the most sought after by way of endorsements.
Take for example what just happened in San Diego. With the unwavering endorsement and support of the San Diego Gun Owners PAC of then candidate for La Mesa City Council Laura Lothian, as quoted by SDGO's Executive Director Michael Schwartz, WE "clobbered" her rival. There WILL be more as the tide is turning.
In speaking on behalf of our sister Gun Owner PACs in San Diego and the Island Empire, we could not be more bullish about the future. However, we do need more of you who are like minded patriots to join in the fight.
Come, and be a part of the change!
New York State Rifle & Pistol v. Bruen Supreme Court Case!
Attached is the transcript from the New York Rifle and Pistol Association vs New York lawsuit. The case was heard Tuesday in front of the U.S. Supreme Court. Believe it or not our sister PAC, San Diego County Gun Owners, played a small part in the discussion.
Starting at page 34, Justice Breyer gets into a discussion about the possibility of increased violence if people are allowed to have CCW permits. Attorney Paul Clement, arguing for the New York State Rifle & Pistol association points out that the statistics don’t reflect that in shall issue states there is an increase in violence. There is a reference to Chicago, which is a shall issue jurisdiction. Justice Kagan then jumps in and tries to tie Chicago gun violence (from illegal guns) to shall issue CCW permits. Clement artfully responds that no other jurisdiction with a shall issues CCW policy results in increased violence and he cites San Diego.
San Diego County Gun Owners essentially turned San Diego into a “shall issue” jurisdiction, although no jurisdiction in California can truly be considered "shall issue" until we get rid of the "proof of good cause" requirement. There has been no increase in violence from CCW permit holders since the policy change. San Diego, thanks to San Diego County Gun Owners, serves as the poster child for why shall issue should be the statewide and country wide policy.
Take the time to read the arguments if you haven't already and get involved. Focusing on all that is wrong is easy. Being one of the ones to restore and protect our Second Amendment rights is hard, but we are doing it every day. In San Diego County, Orange County, and in the Inland Empire.
Together, We Will Win.
2A Discussion Night 11/10!
OCGO is taking our monthly 2A Discussion night a different direction. Yes, we'll be discussing all things related to court hearings, goofy HBs and SBs being introduced, yet if you been following what's currently happening with the case mentioned above, the SCOTUS is, after a decade, hearing more cases regarding the 2nd Amendment. And, their not to thrilled with the number of hideous, anti-gun laws. This should be interesting. Our hosts are extremely well informed bringing context from both the legal and philosophical approaches to the context of our God given right, "To keep and bear arms".
