Join OCGO at the Crime Survivors Superhero 5k Walk/Run Saturday April 15th!

We had a great time last year! We will have an OCGO/NotMeOC TableTop/Booth at the OC SuperHero 5K Run/Walk Health & Safety Expo Saturday April 15th from 7-11:00AM! Go to our Volunteer Page to Sign up to work the booth during one of two shifts and talk to others about the great work we do, explore the vendors at the event and/or come run/walk the 5k! You can register under our team Orange County Gun Owners PAC/NotMeOC! 

Call to Action Update! Irvine City Council to Review a Safe Gun Storage City Ordinance – 2nd Extension –Updated to April 25th Agenda!

Orange County Gun Owners PAC has obtained a Memo from Irvine City Councilmember, Kathleen Treseder, addressed to the City Manager, Oliver Chi, that requests an item be added to the Irvine City Council Meeting Agenda for discussion and review titled:

Discussion of a Responsible Gun Storage Ordinance

While safe storage of firearms is important and supported by Orange County Gun Owners PAC, the suggested model ordinance is overreaching and invasive of the city’s residents’ individual freedoms and ability to protect themselves within their homes. Storing your home defense gun unloaded with a trigger lock in a combination safe in a room separate from your ammunition, while arguably safer, isn’t exactly practical. A home defense weapon that isn’t easily accessible doesn’t offer much value in the event of a home invasion. There is also no way of enforcing such an ordinance.

The initial request was for this to be added to the March 28th meeting agenda however, it has been moved AGAIN to the April 25th meeting.

OCGO will be attending the Irvine City Council Meeting on April 25, 2023 in order to speak in opposition of adding this ordinance and encourage everyone to join us! 

 We are sending a call to action to our members and the community to join us at the meeting, speak at the meeting, and/or write/call the Irvine Councilmembers letting them know we are against this ordinance. There is a Zoom option for those that cannot attend in person as well!

The agenda is not available yet, however, we will let everyone know when it is made available so that you can start making comments on the agenda item.

Blog: Why Don’t We Have “Smart Guns?”

In the field of computer science, there exists a longstanding rule of thumb known as “Moore’s Law,” which dictates that the number of transistors available on an integrated circuit will roughly double every two years. In simpler terms, computer chips will become exponentially more complex over time. Indeed, since Gordon Moore last revised his eponymous rule in 1975, semiconductor technology has advanced at a breakneck pace, allowing engineers to give all sorts of devices their own onboard control chips. Your car’s engine has a microprocessor in it. So do your refrigerator, your washer and dryer, and even the toilets at your nearest gas station. If so many devices in our modern world are computerized, though, then why not firearms?
