CA DOJ: Invitation for Preliminary Comments on Proposed Rulemaking Regarding Firearm Microstamping
CA DOJ is quietly asking for comments on the revision of the safe handgun microstamping rule that went into effect on July 1 2022 reducing the number of microstamps from 2 to 1.
Since existing regulations implementing the law do not require the unique microstamp on each handgun to be transmitted to and recorded by the DOJ, they are seeking input in developing a procedure for each handgun’s unique microstamp to be transmitted to the Department so that it can be recorded for future reference.
The public is invited to submit comments related to any issue regarding the implementation of this procedure.
They have opened the comment period until 5PM February 1, 2023.
Comments may be submitted by email or mail:
• E-mail: [email protected]
Please include “Microstamp” in the subject line.

A New Year’s Resolution for All of Us
2023, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly – Probably a good year for the Second Amendment, a less-good year for the country, and a tee-up to a possibly ugly 2024
So, it’s New Year’s Eve, time to reflect on the events of the past year and look forward to what lies ahead. For gun owners there were definitely some bright spots amid the darkness of 2022. I think for those of us who cherish the rights protected by the Second Amendment (2A) a fair amount of optimism is warranted for 2023. For Americans in general, the case for optimism is less strong. Nevertheless 2023 promises to be interesting with an exciting mix of the good, the bad, and the ugly.
As we ring in the 2023, it is customary to look back on the past and set goals for ourselves in the new year. Most new year’s resolutions focus on self-improvement; gyms see an uptick in membership every January from people who want to get in shape. While bettering oneself is a laudable goal, I think we could all stand to resolve ourselves to help each other. Those of you who listened to my segment on Gun Owners Radio last weekend may already have some idea as to what I’m talking about.
