The Data Leak: Update on Public Records Request
Last month, we sent a letter to the Attorney General’s office submitting a request under the California Public Records Act, requesting copies of communications regarding the breach of personal information of CCW holders in California.
The Public Records Act gives the public the right to access communications, documents, and more about almost in anything the government, and it’s our biggest tool other than lawsuits to force them to comply.
Unfortunately, government politicians and bureaucrats do whatever they can to slow-roll or outright deny these requests — particularly when the request seeks information that makes them look bad. As expected – they said no.
“In response to a PRA request, the Department may withhold certain records when the public interest served by not disclosing the records clearly outweighs the public interest,” they wrote.
Your support for Orange Gun Owners is more important than ever, and means more than ever. Your membership allows us to represent gun owners as one voice to the media and to politicians, allowing us to be an effective champion for your Second Amendment rights! Please consider joining today.

We Need Your Help! Community Outreach!
Our “Gun Shop Table Top” program is one of our most effective ways to reach out to current and new members. Volunteering is fun and easy! We provide all the materials you need, and all you have to do is show up. You would be passing out literature about the organization, signing up people for our mailing list, and sharing information about membership. This is an incredibly valuable way to give back to the Second Amendment community and support Orange County Gun Owners!
We are currently looking to grow our Table Top Opportunities throughout Orange County as well. If you know of or own a local 2A friendly business that would host our Table Tops on the weekends please send the information to [email protected]
You can sign up for shifts for this & other events here:
Would you like our postcards or our Executive Director’s business cards to hand out in the community to your friends, neighbors, and fellow Orange County residents to tell them more about OCGO? You can pick some up at our Monthly Meetings, Table Tops, or other events.
If you can’t make events, please email [email protected], & we can mail some to you as well!

OCGO Member on Gun Owners Radio: Danielle Mills for Newport-Mesa School Board
Our very own OCGO Member & #NotMeOC Ambassador Danielle Mills was on Gun Owners Radio last week!
What if Newport-Mesa had a school board trustee that prioritized parents? Meet Danielle Mills, a frustrated parent that has decided to step up and make a difference in the Newport Mesa Unified School District. “The duty is ours, and results are God’s.” If you believe in parental rights, help Danielle’s campaign at:
SDCGO Board Member Joe Drammissi is also host of Gun Owners Radio and prolific writer for our blog!! Recently he appeared on Charlie Cook’s Riding Shotgun with Charlie… check it out here!
Blog: Meanwhile in California, SB-918 and Concealed Carry
SB-918 is the reaction of the Democrat supermajority in the California legislature and Governor Newsom to the recent US Supreme Court (SCOTUS) ruling in NYSRPA vs Bruen. In that SCOTUS opinion Justice Clarence Thomas wrote the following:
We too agree, and now hold, consistent with Heller and McDonald, that the Second and Fourteenth Amendments protect an individual’s right to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home.
This ruling forced the handful of backward states clinging to may-issue polices to concede that citizens do indeed have the basic right of self-protection when out in public and the Constitution protects their right to use firearms in that capacity. At least you would think that was the case.
Cheryl Todd, Maria Juliana, and Mary Davis join the show to talk about the growing number of women taking charge of their own self-defense and standing up for themselves and their children.
TIME CODES:
1:27 – SB 918: DON’T PANIC
10:05 – Special Guest: Gun Freedom Radio’s Cheryl Todd
35:05 – Growing the Gun Owners community with Maria Juliana
56:08 – Exposing San Diego Board of Directors’ Hypocrisy with Mary Davis
Members! Would you like to be listed on our website as Second Amendment Supporting Business?
OCGO is in the process of adding a Business Directory to our website that will include/feature local businesses that support our Second Amendment Rights! If you are interested in listing your business on the page and possibly providing a discount to fellow OCGO members(optional) please email us at [email protected] to discuss further!
It’s Election Season! Do you have any local candidates you want us to endorse or are you a candidate?
Endorsing candidates is an important part of the political process and is a big step towards Orange County Gun Owners’ goal of electing only people who respect our Second Amendment rights.
For OCGO, every day is election season and the next election is always right around the corner. OCGO is a unique political organization because we focus entirely on local Second Amendment issues. Because we are unique, it is important to understand the specifics of who, how, and why we endorse.
OCGO endorses only county and city level candidates. We do not endorse state or federal candidates because other organizations do a great job already and we do not want to duplicate efforts. We only endorse candidates for City Council, School Board, County Board of Supervisors, Sheriff, and other local boards like water, fire, etc.
OCGO’s Criteria for Endorsements:
The candidate’s stance on the Second Amendment and Second Amendment issues. Does the candidate oppose gun bans, ammunition registration, and accessory bans? Does the candidate support issuing carry permits for the purpose of self-defense? And will the candidate do more than just say they support the Second Amendment? We want to support people who will actively work to protect and restore our Second Amendment rights.
The viability of the candidate’s campaign. By endorsing a candidate, we are asking our members and supporters to donate money and time to their campaign. Our endorsement is not just a voting guide. We will not ask our members to give time and money to a candidate who does not have the proper infrastructure in place to win or has not done enough to raise the money needed to get their message to voters.
The candidate’s character. Even if a candidate is pro-Second Amendment and has a viable campaign, if they have done something that is serious and verifiable to prove they do not have the character to hold public office, we will not endorse. How can we trust a candidate to do the right thing on the Second Amendment if they cannot do the right thing personally or professionally?
If you have a favorite local candidate or are a candidate, please contact us or email [email protected] We want to make sure candidates get our questionnaire and meet with each candidate. Once a candidate is endorsed, OCGO will encourage our members to volunteer for and donate to endorsed candidates. OCGO spends money on behalf of our endorsed candidates to make sure their voters vote for them.
Are you a member yet? We need help here in Orange County. It’s election season, and you can bet OCGO is working hard to be your Second Amendment voice. However, we cannot do it alone! Join today by clicking the link above and become a 2A Advocate!
